ABOUT US
Kappa Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. is a nonprofit, Asian-interest sorority that was founded on March 9, 1995 at SUNY Binghamton in Binghamton, New York. Our sorority was conceived through the notion of an organization that would provide a culturally sound and educationally inspiring grounding for Asian-American women. We are a cultural sorority with an emphasis on service and commitment to giving back to our members’ communities.
The Associate Chapter at the University of Cincinnati began as an interest group by the name of RISE - Resilient Individuals Striving for Excellence. With the university only having one multicultural sorority at the time, thirteen charters felt called to expand sorority options for women looking to find their true sisterhood. Driven by the three pillars of Kappa Phi Lambda - sisterhood, service, and cultural diversity, they worked hard to make campus a welcoming place for women to embrace their cultural backgrounds, while securing the bonds of everlasting sisterhood. After three years of resilience and perseverance, the Associate Chapter of Kappa Phi Lambda was finally chartered on March 28th, 2020. From then on, they vowed to uphold the three pillars and help diverse women find their voice and passion for spreading cultural awareness.

Our Pillars
Sisterhood
Sisterhood is more than just friendship - it is everlasting and unconditional. Our sisterhood has no borders, as it consists of over 3,000 sisters at 27 different schools nationwide. Having a large support system allows women to empower one another to grow into strong leaders. By establishing strong roots of sisterhood, we can help each other flourish and become the best versions of ourselves that we can be.
Service
We believe it is important to give back to the community that we live in. By supporting local causes and providing acts of service, we can help advocate for those who need it. Not only is community service vital for giving back to the community, it empowers us to gain empathy and understand the importance of being catalysts of change. Our local philanthropy is Women Helping Women, which exists to support all survivors and help prevent gender-based violence in the Cincinnati area. Our national philanthropy is CARE, which tackles the underlying causes of poverty and social injustice in order to deliver lasting change in the lives of poor and vulnerable people.
Cultural Diversity
Even though we are an Asian-interest sorority, we are not Asian-exclusive. Our sorority consists of many different ethnic and cultural backgrounds that help shape our identities. We emphasize the importance of embracing women for who they are, no matter their background. By hosting and attending events that uphold these values, we can help empower others to learn about the many different cultures that exist and make up our diverse campus.
